V-day

You wanna know what I think of valentines day? I think it's incredibly stupid. I know what you're thinking... "Well duh you don't like it, you're single.". Trust me, I didn't even like it the years I had a boyfriend. Gifts, chocolates, flowers, dates, they're all nice. But why do we all have to plan them in the same day? I mean, we're supposed to show love everyday of the year. I hate the pressure of v-day. When I am in a relationship again, I still won't want to partispate in v-day. Except maybe spending the day with my special someone.

Anyone else agree with my feelings on the horid day?

  1. Aside from the forced showing of love on that day the origins of Valentine's Day, like nearly every holiday on the calendar, has almost no recognizable relation to how it started. It's basically followed in the footsteps of Christmas and Halloween in becoming a day pushed on people by the commercial world to get people to spend money. I think a random act of love between two people is much more meaningful.

  2. oh, i have hated valentine's day for a good many years now. boyfriend or no, it's a day i wish we could just skip over. i hate walking into stores and being bombarded with red and pink heart shaped boxes of candy, giant stuffed bears holdings pink 'i love you' hearts and mushy (or pervy) cards galore. yuck and a big no thank you.

nathan keeps telling me that this is going to be a good year for valentine's day for me though, so i'm reserving judgment until the day has passed. we'll see what happens.

  3. If you think about it, Valentine's day is really just a day promoted by corporations to get people to buy stuff to make money since it does not have any real purpose. I could honestly care about the day.
