A Heavy Topic and a Decision

The lovely Laina wrote a post for y'all!
Here it is:

In lieu of the good news of Cora, I decided to talk to you guys about a bit of a heavy topic. The topic of life. But more over, the topic of a right to life. Baby Cora has been given a fantastic opportunity. When she is born, she will get the best medical care until she is big enough to be able to be supported just the same as other babies. And this is wonderful.
But what about the children who don't get this opportunity? What about those who don't even get a chance to live? The children who are the victims of abortions. Modern medicine is a wonderful thing, and I fully believe that it is, to some extent a gift from God. But there are lines in this gift that should have never been crossed, and because we are humans, destructive and drawn to sin and all things destructive, we have blurred those lines so much that we have such a difficult time seeing and defining what is "right" and what is "wrong".
But if we hold ourselves to Biblical standards, it is easy to see that abortion is wrong.
In Psalms 127:3-5 it says that children are a gift from God and a blessing.
I don't know about you, but I believe that gifts from God should be cherished and held in high regard. They should be protected. If children are a gift from God our father, then why? Why are we killing them when they aren't convenient to us? Jeremiah 29:11 states that God knows the plans He has for us and they are plans for good. He also never gives us more than what we can handle, so our excuse that we just couldn't handle it at the time, or that it was just to much, those excuses are in actuality irrelevant. It is our need and desire to control things and have things go our way that causes us to revert to killing our unborn children.
Another thing that can lead to an abortion is if the child has some kind of medical issue. Some parents test while they are still pregnant and if they find that the child is say, for example, a Downs Syndrome child, they might choose to abort. But even the children who are not made "perfectly" in the worlds eyes, are perfect in God's eyes (Psalms 139). And they have a purpose as well.
Children with special needs are some of the nicest, sweetest, most loving, and happy people that I have ever met. They are such wonderful blessings and they literally bring light into a person's life.
Why would you want to get rid of someone who knows such pure joy?
I believe that everyone has a right to life, and I believe that it is a right that should be fought for.
What do you guys think?

  1. I absolutely agree with what you said here. Not only do you say what you feel personally but you support it with Scripture, which is so awesome and is so inspired (and better than just saying "Uhh...I think it's in the Bible somewhere.") Not only are the points you made absolutely valid, but among general moral arguments and even many biological points (to the credit of which even some atheists are pro-life) the standpoint of supporting life is not just an opinion but morally right. Thank you for being willing to share what you believe despite the pressure of a society that may be hostile against it. And, as always, great post :) I'm happy to be reading your blog again!
