Alana the...

  lazy...
Alana the less than dedicated..
Alana the procrastinator..

I am lazy (OK, don't get me wrong.. I do school and do my chores.). Typically I get a daily lecture about studying more, and actually doing homework, from my mom. About once a week both of my parents give me a major one.. yesterday was that day.

I get what they're saying.. I really do. I just don't know how to discipline myself. I really need to buckle down so I can get my grades up, but it's just so hard. I know.. this is nothing new for a 17 year old girl. I just.. there's a lot that I really would like to do if I could get off my butt and work for it.

It seems to me that Papa thinks that when I'm at home.. I should be doing school, cleaning, or doing work outside. He seems to think that the only breaks I should get are when I'm sleeping or away from the house.

I really feel like I'm getting somewhere spiritually, but that's no good if I'm failing everywhere else. Am I the only one struggling like this?

P.S.On September 28, 2011 I decided to start a blog. Today on January 30, 2013.. One year, three months, and two days later I have 200 posts, 224 comments, and 6,304 page views .. I am a blessed woman. Thank you all for being here along this bumpy ride. Here's to many years together to come!

  1. No, you're not the only one. Kate has a sort of mini-homestead - four milking goats and a buck, eleven chickens, and a garden. Spring is approaching (I'm sure you know how that goes) and I'm having a difficult time with Algebra. We'll survive though :) We've got God on our side!!

Congrats on the blog stuff!! It seems like you should have more comments though...

    Jesus loves you!!

    1. Yes, yes we do!

You're right, I should have more comments, but that's OK :)

  2. I have a request for you. You made that list of all the movies of 2012 you saw and starred them and everything - is it too late to request that you do that with books this year? Of course, this can't really be completed for about a year, but I thought I'd ask.

    1. Way ahead of you:). I have a note section in my phone that I'm putting each movie I've seen and how I'd rate it. So yes, I will do the same thing :)

By the way, I would love to hear your story sometime (if you're willing to tell it). If you have email, obviously we can talk there, you don't have to tell your story for all the world to see :)

  5. Ahh, story of my LIFE. I'm in college and I still haven't figured out how to motivate myself. It's dangerous. I'll let you know when/if I ever discover a solution XD

  6. oh girl, you definitely deserve to have some down time that involves things other than sleeping or being away from the house, but you do have to be careful that not all your down time is wasted. Finding motivation for yourself is difficult, but i would say that maybe you should talk with your parents and set aside some time in the day devoted to studying and make is the same time every day. Have your parents hold you accountable to this without being naggy or pushy. And you can also try to do it without them having to remind you. It'll be tough because sometimes you won't feel like you doing it, and that's okay. But just having some time in your day specifically dedicated to studying something might just help get your ball rolling. :)

  7. I went through that too. My parents always lectured me about not helping out. So I showed them that whatever they're saying is not true. It'll pass. Just keep doing your thing and maybe help out around the house whenever you can. :D
